In a tight bout between two district adversaries, the Beaumont United Timberwolves, with a game-sealing touchdown at the last minute of regulation, defeated Galveston Ball High, 23-16, but remain playoff bound in Districts.

Beaumont greatest X-factor in winning the football game was quarterback Race Deshotel showing off the great arm of his, throwing to his favorite target of the night, receiver Ashton Henry from 30, 40, to 41 yards, including a 10 yard touchdown pass to give Beaumont the lead.

For the Ball Tornadoes, their game plan was running the ball; to ground and pound. Running-back Ky’son Eldridge got the majority of carries going 16 attempts for 71 yards and averaging 4.4 yards a carry. However, other backs like Rodney Tipps ran for 41 yards off of 7 attempts, and Jaylen McDaniel ran for a 14 yard touchdown run.

Though this game wasn’t the best for the quarterback Corieon Sanders, throwing for just 9 of 29 passes and 102 yards and two interceptions, he did contribute to the teams success by throwing a 23 yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Jeramo Charles to tie the game at 16-16.

The play of the entire game was a 22 yard touchdown pass from Deshotel to Henry. After scrambling and running for his life out of the pocket, in an act of last second heroics, Deshotel finds his reliable receiver to the outside near the goal line and Henry dove and broke the plain to give the Timberwolves the win.

Next week, Beaumont United will prepare for a District match-up against the Barbers Hill Eagles (4-3) on Oct. 17. After a bye week, Ball High will try to bounce back against Barbers Hill on Oct. 24.
