TEXAS CITY — College of the Mainland will host a community meet-and-greet with its new president, Dr. Helen Brewer, on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the COM Conference Center, according to a release from the college.
Dr. Brewer said she looks forward to building on the college’s foundation and strengthening ties with the community.
“College of the Mainland is a place where opportunity meets potential,” Brewer said in the release. “I look forward to building on the college’s strong foundation and working with our community to ensure every student has the support they need to thrive.”

The event will include remarks from COM’s longest-serving employee, Tillie Henson, as well as comments from current students and faculty sharing their experiences and programs at the college.
“Having spent more than 50 years at College of the Mainland, I’ve seen the college grow and evolve in incredible ways,” Henson said. “I’m excited to see what the future holds under Dr. Brewer’s leadership and how our community and students will continue to thrive.”
