LEAGUE CITY — League City Animal Care & Adoption Center will host a special Día de los Muertos celebration this month to honor both people and pets who have passed away. The event in English is referred to as “Day of the Dead”.
Julie Hoover, Community Outreach Coordinator for LCAC, told KGTX 7 the event, titled “Día de los Perros y Gatos,” will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the League City Animal Care & Adoption Center. The celebration expands on the traditional Mexican Día de los Muertos, a holiday that honors loved ones who have died, by also paying tribute to cherished pets who’ve crossed the rainbow bridge.
Families are invited to create colorful ofrendas — or altars — adorned with marigolds, candles, and photos to remember their loved ones and furry companions. Organizers say the evening will celebrate life and connection through joy and remembrance.
