HITCHCOCK — The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office reports one person is dead and another critically injured after a boating accident early Friday morning.

Authorities say Hitchcock Police requested assistance around 4:30 a.m. after a vessel accident resulted in a man and a woman being ejected from the boat.

The woman was located and airlifted by Life Flight to UTMB Galveston, where she remains in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Office Marine Division and Dive Team later recovered the body of a 26-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Texas Parks and Wildlife is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Major Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Unit.
