GALVESTON COUNTY – After a sunny and warm start to the week, showers and thunderstorms are expected to return to Galveston County beginning Tuesday and continuing into the weekend.

Monday stays mostly sunny and breezy, with highs near 84 degrees. On Tuesday, moisture from the Gulf will push back into the area, bringing partly sunny skies and a high around 88. Scattered thunderstorms are possible in the late afternoon and evening, with rain chances around 30 percent.

Wednesday will be a bit cooler, topping out near 79 degrees, with scattered showers possible throughout the day and breezy coastal winds.

Thursday and Friday remain humid, with highs in the lower 80s and occasional showers or isolated thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. Rain chances each day hover around 30 to 40 percent, and muggy air will stick around through the end of the workweek.

Saturday could start off with a few morning showers or a thunderstorm before partial clearing later in the day. By Sunday, skies turn mostly cloudy and humid, with highs in the mid-80s and only a slight chance of rain.

Forecasters have not indicated any threat for heavy rainfall, but brief downpours may still cause slick roads or brief interruptions to outdoor plans.
