LEAGUE CITY — The Texas Department of Transportation will hold a public town hall meeting Thursday, October 23, to discuss one of the Gulf Coast’s largest upcoming infrastructure projects — the expansion of the Grand Parkway.

According to League City’s website, the meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 West Walker Street. Officials will outline plans for the project’s Section B — a 28-mile, four-lane, controlled-access tollway stretching from I-45 in League City to SH 35 in Alvin and SH 288 near Rosharon. The route will pass through parts of Galveston and Brazoria counties.

A portion of the project, known as Segment B-1, will extend from I-45 in League City to south of FM 2403. It is expected to go out for bid in 2026, with construction beginning in 2027. The work will affect several local roadways, including Hobbs Road, Calder Road, and FM 646.

Following a short presentation, TxDOT representatives will take public questions and comments. Discussion topics will include the project timeline, anticipated traffic and construction impacts, and how residents and businesses can prepare.

Residents unable to attend in person can watch the meeting live on League City’s Facebook page. A recording will also be posted later on the City’s website.
