Two Arrested in Copper Theft at Texas City Water Facility

TEXAS CITY — Two men have been arrested in connection with a copper wire theft at an emergency water facility earlier this month, according to the Texas City Police Department.

Officers were called on Wednesday, October 15, to investigate a reported burglary at the FM 2004 Emergency Backup Well Site in the 3900 block of FM 2004. Police say copper wire had been stolen from the critical infrastructure location.

Following the investigation, officers identified two suspects: David Knight Haney and Brent John Wentland. Both were later arrested on warrants for Theft of Property valued between $150,000 and $300,000, as well as Damaging a Critical Infrastructure Facility involving more than $100,000 in damage.

Additional details, including the extent of the property loss or damage, have not yet been released.
