GALVESTON — The Galveston Police Department’s Narcotics Division has concluded an investigation resulting in the seizure of more than a quarter-million dollars in suspected drug proceeds, according to Chief Douglas Balli.

Details about the investigation, including arrests or specific locations, were not released. Balli said the case was the result of collaboration with multiple partner agencies and began with a small piece of intelligence that ultimately led to the larger discovery.

“I’m proud of all of our officers, because in this line of work, the smallest case or piece of intelligence can lead to large-scale investigations like this one,” Balli said in a statement. “The men and women of the Galveston Police Department continue to do their part every day to protect our community and disrupt the criminal networks that threaten it.”

Balli also issued a warning to those involved in illegal drug operations.

“To the drug dealers out there… keep those receipts, because we’re tracking every dollar you try to move,” he said. “We may not catch you today, but we’re always watching, and eventually… the house always wins.”

No additional information was immediately available as the investigation remains ongoing.
