GALVESTON – Galveston police have arrested an 18-year-old man accused of assaulting a family member at an apartment complex earlier this month.

According to police, the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, October 20, at The Oleanders apartments in the 5200 block of Broadway.

Investigators say the suspect, identified as Ralpheal Johnson of Galveston, fled the scene after the alleged assault but was located and taken into custody on Thursday, October 30.

Johnson, who police say is the stepson of the victim, has been charged with aggravated assault (family) with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony. He was booked into the Galveston County Jail with bond set at $50,000.

Authorities have not released additional details about the nature of the assault or the condition of the victim.
