SANTA FE – Innovative Alternatives, Inc., the nonprofit mental health agency that partnered with the City of Santa Fe following the 2018 Santa Fe High School shooting, is marking a milestone this month: the five-year anniversary of the Santa Fe Resiliency Center.
Since opening on November 10, 2020, the center has provided counseling and trauma-recovery services to thousands of students, educators, families, and community members still coping with the long-term effects of the tragedy.
To commemorate the anniversary, Innovative Alternatives will host a private open house Monday, November 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 4233 FM 1764, Suite 4E in Santa Fe. City leaders, school officials, and community partners have been invited to reflect on the center’s progress and the continued need for trauma-recovery services.
“We opened this center with a mission to restore hope to a community in crisis,” said Debbie Corn, CFO of Innovative Alternatives. “Five years later, we’re seeing incredible stories of resilience—but also an urgent need to expand our capacity. Trauma does not operate on a timeline, and our community continues to rely on these essential services.”
The Santa Fe Resiliency Center offers free counseling, trauma therapy, and relational health programs for those impacted by violence. Officials say the need for these services remains high, with client numbers continuing to rise and waitlists beginning to form.
Innovative Alternatives operates through grants, donors, and community partnerships. CEO Donny Daughenbaugh said sustained funding will be key to meeting growing demand.
“This anniversary isn’t just a celebration—it’s a call to action,” Daughenbaugh said. “The people of Santa Fe have shown extraordinary strength, and we are honored to walk alongside them. Now, we must ensure we can continue to meet this growing need for as long as our community needs us.”
