KEMAH — The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and dozens of community members came together Saturday morning to celebrate the 10th birthday of Caiden, a local boy who has spent the past year undergoing cancer treatments.

What began as a simple idea for a small parade turned into a heartfelt show of support, with cars, trucks, and first responders lining the streets of Kemah to surprise Caiden on his special day.

“Caiden was so surprised and happy — he was shocked at the amount of Legos he gets to donate to Texas Children’s Hospital,” said Deputy Megan Evans. “I couldn’t fit any more in my car. Our community did awesome!”

Attendees were encouraged to bring Lego sets — Caiden’s favorite pastime — to support his nonprofit, Caiden Cares, which donates toys and supplies to children in need. Many also brought Legos as personal gifts for Caiden, who hopes to use the extras to brighten the days of other kids receiving treatment.

Despite being unable to attend school during his treatments, Caiden has dedicated his time to helping others, inspiring both his neighbors and local law enforcement to rally behind him.

“Caiden cares about making other kids happy,” Evans added. “He’s inspired all of us to come together and celebrate his strength and generosity.”

The birthday parade began at 8:30 a.m. near Isla Vista and South Kemah Drive, with sirens, balloons, and handmade signs filling the street. For one morning, the community turned out not just to honor a brave young boy — but to remind him that he’s not facing this fight alone.
