FRIENDSWOOD — A 21-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly firing a gun during a road rage incident in Friendswood on Friday evening, police said.
According to the Friendswood Police Department, officers responded around 5:24 p.m. on Oct. 31 to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of South Friendswood Drive. The victim told police that someone in a white Chevrolet Camaro with distinctive markings fired a gun at their vehicle.
Responding officers located a matching Camaro on Centennial Lane. When they attempted a traffic stop, officers observed the driver throwing an object from the vehicle in the 16500 block of Barcelona Lane, police said. The driver, identified as Mike Jordan Cotiy Tum, 21, was detained at the scene.
A Friendswood Police K9 unit searched the area where the object was tossed and recovered a handgun nearby. Investigators determined that a single bullet struck the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle. Two adults and an infant inside the targeted vehicle were not injured.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weaponagainst Tum. His bond was set at $50,000 per count, totaling $150,000, according to an updated release from the department.
Police did not disclose a possible motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
