After struggling through a three-game losing streak, the Friendswood Mustangs gallop their way into a three-game winnings streak following last Thursday’s victory against the Kingswood Park Panthers, 34-20.
Friendswood’s offense came off to a hot start in the first quarter, as running back Tripp Bateman powers his way into the end-zone for a three-yard touchdown run, leading 7-0. Bateman continues to impress with one big run after another, first with a 21-yard run in the first quarter, a 28-yard run in the second and a 33-yarder in the third.
While Bateman’s running game was the highlight of the offense, credit also goes to Mustangs quarterback Josh Brister. Before halftime, Brister slung a 23 yard touchdown pass to his receiver Gianni Gerami with 28 seconds remaining in the half. He followed that up with another touchdown after a three-yard QB sneak, and threw his second touchdown pass to Gerami for 12-yards. Brister cemented the Mustangs victory over by threading the needle to receiver AJ Parker for a 27-yard touchdown, changing the lead to 34-14.
Friendswood has momentum on their side. If they can keep this up heading into their final game of the season against the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars on Nov. 7, the Mustangs can finish on a high note.
