LA MARQUE – The City of La Marque will once again take part in Wreaths Across America, a national initiative dedicated to remembering and honoring the nation’s veterans.

This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at the La Marque Cemetery. The city’s goal is to sponsor 129 wreaths — one for each of the 121 veterans buried there, along with nine additional wreaths for the ceremony.

So far, community donations have funded 64 wreaths, placing the city more than halfway toward its goal. Officials are encouraging residents to help complete the effort by sponsoring a wreath in honor of local service members.

Wreaths can be sponsored online at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/txlmqc. Supporters are asked to ensure their donations are designated for the La Marque Cemetery.
