42-Year-Old Arrested in Connection With Galveston Fatal Shooting

GALVESTON — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man found inside a vehicle last Saturday evening in Galveston, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Galveston Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Office, arrested 42-year-old Larry Ballard Tuesday during a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Broadway. Ballard was booked into the Galveston County Jail on a charge of murder. His bond was set at $500,000.

According to Kurt Koopmann with the Galveston Police Department, officers responded around 6:58 p.m. on November 1 to the 1700 block of Avenue N 1/2 after receiving reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old David Rodriguez of Galveston suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Galveston Police Department.
