A Galveston County man has been found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the death of Tammy King, authorities announced Friday.

According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Uriah Urick was convicted and sentenced nine months after the investigation began. Urick and co-defendant Tara King were arrested in Laredo, Texas, on February 9, 2025, following a multi-agency effort.

Sheriff Jimmy Fullen praised the work of the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, particularly Chief Prosecutor Katlyn Willis and Prosecutor Michael Rinehart, for their efforts in securing the conviction.

“This case is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our Major Crimes detectives, Crime Scene investigators, prosecutors, and partner agencies who worked tirelessly from the day of the crime through the conclusion of trial,” Fullen said in a statement. “Justice has been served for Tammy King and her loved ones.”
