LEAGUE CITY – A man has been arrested after an armed disturbance involving his wife and four children, according to Officer Trevor Montero of LCPD.
Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Jamane Herod of League City. He is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Restraint, and four counts of Unlawful Restraint of a Child under 17. His bonds total $200,000.
The incident began around 5:37 p.m. Saturday, November 15, in the 2200 block of Golden Sails Drive. Officers responded after receiving a report of a disturbance and gunshots being heard. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim, who told officers that Herod had been arguing with her, fired a shot outside, and remained inside the home with their children.
Police made contact with Herod, who briefly stepped outside holding one of the children with a pistol on his hip. He refused to surrender and went back inside. With concern for the safety of the children, the Combined Agency Response Team—made up of officers and negotiators from League City, Pearland, Alvin, and Webster—was requested.
Negotiators established communication with Herod, who eventually agreed to come out unarmed. He was taken into custody without incident. The mother and children were unharmed.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the League City Police Department at 281-332-2566.
