BACLIFF — Firefighters have been battling a structure and grass fire, near the old remains of the P.H. Robinson Power Plant off Highway 146.
The fire was reported early Saturday morning, on the island where the former plant’s old cooling towers are located, which spread to surrounding grass.

Fire departments from Alvin, Galveston, Kemah, Bacliff, Pearland, Texas City, League City, and other nearby areas continued battling the blaze into early Sunday morning.
Officials have not released a cause for the fire. Several local residents reported hearing fireworks, however it’s unknown if that’s related.
No injuries have been reported. The fire remains under investigation.

The P.H. Robinson Power Plant opened in the 1960s, under the ownership of HL&P, but was torn down in the late 2010s.
