GALVESTON – Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that happened early Sunday morning in the 2300 block of 53rd Street.
According to the Galveston Police Department, a man riding his bicycle was struck by a white or silver pickup truck, possibly a Ford, with a ladder in the bed. A witness told investigators the truck fled westbound on Stewart Road after the collision. The witness called 911 and stayed at the scene until first responders arrived.
The victim has been identified as 77-year-old Fidel Estrada of Galveston. He was transported to UTMB Galveston by EMS, where he later died from his injuries.
