TEXAS CITY — A man wanted in Galveston County on multiple warrants has been taken into custody after attempting to flee officers twice, according to the Galveston County Precinct One Constable’s Office.
Deputies were assisting the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force on Tuesday, November 18, as they searched for Jesus Montero. He was wanted on warrants for Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Assault on a Family Member. Authorities say Montero was previously arrested in 2024 for Assault on a Pregnant Woman and was deported in May 2025, but reentered the United States, leading to the new warrants.
Investigators located Montero on the east side of Texas City inside a vehicle. When officers attempted to stop and arrest him, he did not comply and was apprehended by a task force K9, according to officials.
After being placed in a vehicle for transport, authorities say Montero escaped custody and ran from officers. Following a lengthy foot chase, during which an officer was injured, he was taken into custody again and transported to the Galveston County Jail.
Montero was booked on the outstanding warrants for Assault on a Family Member and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle. He is also being held on a Protective Order hold, an immigration hold, and a new charge of Escape While Arrested or Confined. Bond was denied.
The Precinct One Constable’s Office thanked the U.S. Marshals Service task force for assisting in the arrest.
