The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall for a nasal spray (Product ID 217306), aka 1.5-oz (45mL) bottle of Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray with Xylitol. after testing revealed potential contamination. The recall affects products sold nationwide.
Food and Drug Administration officials said the nasal spray has the following lots and expiration dates:
- Lot No. 71409 — Expires: 2/28/2027.
- Lot No. 71861 — Expires: 8/31/2027.
Consumers are advised to stop using the nasal spray immediately and follow disposal instructions provided by the manufacturer or retailer. The FDA says no illnesses have been reported in connection with the contaminated product so far.
Walgreens has instructed stores to remove the affected product from shelves, and consumers can contact Walgreens for information on returns or replacements.
The FDA classifies this recall as a Class II event, indicating that exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects.
