LEAGUE CITY — Police are warning residents about a rise in vehicle thefts targeting newer-model pickup trucks across the community.
According to the League City Police Department, thieves have been stealing 2020 and newer GMC Sierras and Chevrolet Silverados, prompting an active investigation and a public safety alert.
Officers are urging truck owners to take extra precautions, including using aftermarket anti-theft devices such as steering wheel locks, kill switches, or GPS trackers. Police also advise residents to keep their vehicles locked, remove key fobs from the cab, and park in well-lit areas or garages when possible. Home security cameras should be positioned to capture the driveway, sidewalk, and street.
LCPD is asking residents to remain vigilant. Anyone who receives an overnight security alert or sees suspicious people or vehicles near their property is encouraged to call police immediately at 281-332-2566.
Detectives say the case remains active, and anyone with information that could help the investigation should contact Detective Evans at 281-554-1863.
The department said it remains committed to identifying the suspects and preventing further thefts.
