DICKINSON – A Dickinson family is spreading holiday cheer with a large, nightly light display on Windmill Lane. “Lights on Windmill Lane” features 85,000 lights, all synchronized to music, and has become a local tradition over the past three years.
Dana Tew says the display was inspired by a visit to another home with a light show. “I asked the owner what it took to do this, and we decided to start our own,” he said.
The show continues to grow each year. “We started with about 20,000 lights and have added more each year,” Tew said. “Every light has a computer chip telling it when to turn on, what color to be, and how to move with the music.”
Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the display for free. Charity boxes for Toys for Tots are also available, where guests can drop off unwrapped new toys.
Michelle Tew, Dana’s wife said helping with the setup is part of the fun each year. “It’s exciting to see people enjoy it and to know we’re giving back,” she said.
“Lights on Windmill Lane” will continue nightly through the holiday season.
