TEXAS CITY – The local park is set to see a rare winter scene this Saturday as more than 100,000 pounds of snow arrives for the city’s annual Snow Spectacular.

Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Miller said the department is excited to bring the event back, giving families a chance to play in the snow, throw snowballs, and slide down a snow-covered hill.

The event will also include carnival games, local vendors, food trucks, and photos with Santa Claus. The Texas City Police Department will be on-site with the Blue Santa Express, where kids can win toys and prizes through carnival-style games.

Snow Spectacular takes place Saturday, Dec. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nessler Park at 1700 5th Ave. N. Admission and activities are free and open to the public.
