LEAGUE CITY — Clear Springs High School saw an increased police presence Tuesday afternoon after a hoax threat was called in to the League City Police Department, according to statements provided to KGTX 7 by the district.

The call came in at 1:52 p.m., with an individual claiming to have a gun in the campus parking lot. At the time of the report, all students were already inside the building, and school resource officers were on campus. Additional officers from League City Police Department and the Galveston County Safe Schools Division responded immediately and conducted a perimeter search. No threat was found.

The incident occurred near the end of the school day, and officers remained on campus through dismissal as a precaution, Clear Springs Principal Mandy Scott said in a message to families.

District officials also addressed circulating rumors that the threat was received around noon. According to Cameron Munson, CCISD’s Emergency Management Coordinator, that information is false. The district confirmed the exact 1:52 p.m. call time with law enforcement.

Earlier in the day, Clear Springs High School conducted a previously scheduled monthly fire drill. The drill was completed before the district was notified of the threat call. Munson said the district did not initiate a Standard Response Protocol after receiving necessary information from law enforcement but will continue to review safety procedures.

Officials noted that several hoax threats have recently been made to area law enforcement and other local locations. League City Police continue to investigate the source of the calls.

Clear Creek ISD encouraged anyone with information related to the incident or recent false threats to contact authorities.

The district did not respond about the text messages parents said they received.
