CORPUS CHRISTI — Abraham Quintanilla Jr., a guiding force behind the career of Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla and a prominent figure in Texas music history, has died. His family confirmed the news in a statement shared on social media.

The announcement was made by his son, Abraham Quintanilla III, who wrote on Instagram that it was “with a heavy heart” he was sharing news of his father’s passing.

Quintanilla Jr. was widely known for his role in managing and mentoring his daughter as she rose to international fame in the early 1990s.
