BACLIFF — Deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office responded early Wednesday morning to a reported shooting behind the Family Dollar at 4201 TX-146 in Bacliff.

According to GCSO Captain Tommy Maffei, the incident was determined to be an assault. Major Crimes and Crime Scene units responded to the scene as part of the investigation.

Captain Maffei said investigators do not believe the victim was actually shot. The individual was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
