SANTA FE — A Crime Stoppers tip played a key role in the arrest of a Santa Fe man accused of possessing a stolen trailer originally taken from Harris County.

According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were able to identify a trailer seized on August 30, 2025, after receiving a tip that provided specific and accurate information linking the equipment to a theft from Harris County Precinct 4.

The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force took over the investigation and developed probable cause to arrest 33-year-old Cody Dahl of Santa Fe. Detectives located Dahl at his residence on December 15, 2025, and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Galveston County Jail on a charge of theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000. His bond was set at $60,000.

Investigators said all identifying numbers had been deliberately removed from the trailer, making it initially impossible to determine its origin. Authorities said information provided by the tipster was critical in confirming the trailer was stolen, identifying the rightful owner, and placing the suspect at the scene.

Officials noted that without the Crime Stoppers tip, the case may not have resulted in criminal charges.
