ALVIN — Fire crews from multiple departments responded to a brush fire Saturday afternoon near the Liverpool border that ultimately burned approximately 15 acres, according to the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department.
The initial call came in around 1:15 p.m. in the area of Cedro Avenue. Alvin Volunteer Fire Department units arrived to find a fast-moving brush fire and requested mutual aid from Santa Fe, Liverpool, and Danbury fire departments to help contain the flames.
About an hour later, a second brush fire was reported in the area of Eunice Lane. Officials determined that fire was caused by a controlled burn that spread beyond its intended area.
Both fires were brought under control by 2:44 p.m., according to AVFD Public Information Officer Scott Salter. No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
