LIVERPOOL – A man is dead and another is in custody following a Sunday evening shooting in Liverpool, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to a home in the 200 block of Liverpool Spur around 6:29 p.m. on January 4 after a 911 caller reported a disturbance. When law enforcement arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds outside the residence.

Emergency Medical Services were able to enter the scene after another man was detained by deputies. Despite attempts to provide aid, the victim was pronounced dead at the location.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office later identified the victim as 27-year-old Javier Martinez of Liverpool. His body was transported to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy is pending.

Investigators identified the detained individual as Manuel De Jesus Munoz Chavez, 28, of Alvin. Authorities say Chavez was taken into custody and is expected to face a murder charge.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said the case remains under active investigation and that additional details are not being released at this time.
