GALVESTON — A second suspect in a Galveston County capital murder case has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to life in prison.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Tara King pleaded guilty to capital murder on Monday, receiving an automatic life sentence. King is the second defendant in the case.
Investigators say King and co-defendant Uriah Urick were arrested in Laredo on February 9, 2025, following an extended investigation by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
The case was prosecuted by the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. Sheriff Jimmy Fullen credited prosecutors Katlyn Willis and Michael Rinehart for their work on the case, as well as detectives, crime scene investigators, and assisting agencies involved in the investigation.
The capital murder charge stems from the killing of Tammy King. Further details surrounding the crime have not been released. Urick’s case remains separate.
