GALVESTON — A man convicted in a large-scale auto theft case involving classic vehicles has been sentenced to 60 years in prison following a jury trial, according to authorities.

The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force began investigating Richard Finley in 2023 in connection with the theft of property valued at $300,000 or more. Investigators said Finley was the owner of Classic American Street Rods.

During the investigation, authorities recovered 24 classic vehicles along with numerous vehicle parts. The recovered property was estimated to be worth more than $2 million.

On January 6, Finley was found guilty by a jury. The Honorable Judge Jeth Jones of the 122nd District Court sentenced him to 60 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and ordered him to pay $495,000 in restitution to the victims.

Officials with the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force said the case shows their continued efforts to investigate complex auto theft cases and hold offenders accountable.
