SAN LEON — A San Leon man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault of a child investigation that began late last year, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said Juan Porras, 23, was taken into custody on January 7 following an investigation that began in November 2025. The case was led by the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit in coordination with the Galveston County Child Advocacy Center.

Investigators conducted interviews and presented the case to a multidisciplinary team for review. Based on the findings, the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office approved an arrest warrant charging Porras with sexual assault of a child. Bond was set at $100,000.

Porras was arrested at his residence by members of the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Fugitive Apprehension Division. He is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail.

Authorities did not release additional details due to the ongoing nature of the case and to protect the privacy of the victim.
