ALVIN — Alvin Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to multiple emergency calls Monday, including two gas line breaks and a fully involved semi-truck fire, according to officials.
Firefighters were first dispatched to handle two separate gas line breaks in downtown Alvin earlier in the day. Shortly after clearing those calls, crews responded to a semi-truck fire off North Business 35.
Officials said the semi-truck was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene. Engines 12 and 21 arrived within approximately two minutes of the initial dispatch and began fire suppression efforts. The fire was contained and did not spread to other semi-trucks located in the same lot.

Additional responding units included Engine 11 and the Alvin Fire Marshal’s Office.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
Fire officials reminded drivers to slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles with lights activated, noting that extra caution near emergency scenes helps protect both first responders and the public.
