COUNTYWIDE – Lemonade Day Galveston County will return Saturday, May 2, offering young residents the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and basic business skills.
The program, supported by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce, is open to children and teens ages 5 to 18. Participants learn fundamentals such as business planning, budgeting, customer service, and financial literacy while operating their own lemonade stands.
According to organizers, 67 percent of young entrepreneurs who participate in Lemonade Day say they plan to start their own business in the future.
“It’s not just about selling lemonade,” said Gina Spagnola, president and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and director of Lemonade Day Galveston County. “It’s about teaching young entrepreneurs that with preparation, creativity, and a strong work ethic, success is within reach.”
The Galveston Regional Chamber adopted Lemonade Day in 2010 and brought the program to Galveston County in 2012. The League City Regional Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Galveston Chamber for the first time last year to expand the program’s reach on the mainland. That partnership will continue in 2026, with kickoff events planned in both Galveston and League City.
“Collaborating with the Galveston Chamber and Lemonade Day Galveston County is an exciting opportunity,” said League City Chamber President and CEO Bryan Bolton. “This program fosters an entrepreneurial spirit early on and provides young individuals with practical business experience and financial literacy.”
Participants receive a workbook, T-shirt, and backpack to guide them through the process of planning and operating their lemonade stand.
Organizers also announced Senator Mayes Middleton and Michelle Robinson, publisher of The Daily News, as this year’s Lemonade Day Galveston County Community Champions, recognizing their efforts to support and expand the program.
Key events leading up to Lemonade Day include a kickoff expo on Feb. 19 at Weis Middle School in Galveston, a League City kickoff on Feb. 21 at the Perry Family YMCA, and a build-a-stand and tasting contest on April 18 at Chalmers Hardware. A celebration event for young entrepreneurs is scheduled for May 7 at Schlitterbahn Galveston.
