Two Houston Men Arrested in League City After Walmart Theft and Foot Pursuit

LEAGUE CITY — Two Houston men were arrested following an organized retail theft at a Walmart and a brief foot pursuit, according to the League City Police Department.

Jaelan Anderson, 24, and Javarius Thompson, 21, were taken into custody on January 12. Anderson faces charges of evading arrest or detention with previous convictions, theft less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions, and failure to identify – fugitive from justice. Bond was set at $60,000 for the first two charges and $2,500 for the third. Thompson was charged with evading arrest or detention and organized retail theft of $100–$750, both with $2,500 bonds.

Both men were also found to have outstanding felony warrants for aggravated robbery out of Austin County. Anderson additionally had a felony theft warrant from Washington County.

Police said the incident began around 4:55 p.m. when Walmart staff reported two men forcing open an electronics display case, taking merchandise, and exiting through the Automotive entrance.

Officer Hudgens encountered Anderson as he fled under a fence toward a retention pond behind the store. Anderson was taken into custody shortly afterward. Thompson ran toward the front of the store, where Officer Denzler pursued him on foot and arrested him after a short chase.

Stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to Walmart Loss Prevention. Police noted that Anderson initially gave false identifying information, which led to the discovery of his outstanding warrants.
