LEAGUE CITY — Firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 300 block of Reynolds Street around noon Saturday after a clothes dryer caught fire inside a home.

League City Fire Department units, along with mutual aid from the Webster Fire Department, arrived to find the fire reportedly contained to the laundry room. Smoke spread throughout much of the house, but crews were able to save a majority of the structure.

No injuries were reported, and there was no loss of life.

A relative of the homeowner said the resident works in the healthcare field and has been in the process of recovering from flood damage sustained during Hurricane Harvey. The fire, they said, represents another setback in those recovery efforts.

The cause of the dryer fire was not immediately released. Fire officials reminded residents to regularly clean dryer vents and lint traps, as malfunctioning or clogged dryers are a common cause of household fires.
