SAN LEON – Firefighters battled a large brush and grass fire Tuesday in the 2300 block of Avenue D that spread across several acres and threatened nearby homes.
The San Leon Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and arrived to find the fire burning near multiple structures in the 300 block of 23rd Street. San Leon Booster 1 initiated the initial attack and requested mutual aid due to the size of the fire and exposure concerns.

Fire departments from Bacliff, Dickinson, and Kemah responded to assist. San Leon Tanker 1 and Engine 3 were also called in to provide additional manpower and water supply.
Mutual aid crews focused on protecting nearby structures while supporting fire suppression operations.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released. No injuries were reported.
