LEAGUE CITY — Clear Creek ISD recognized secondary student winners from the 66th Annual CCISD Science and Engineering Fair during an awards ceremony held January 28, 2026, at the Learner Support Center. A total of 126 students will advance to the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston in February.
This year, 310 intermediate and high school students advanced from their campus fairs to the district-level competition, with 182 earning awards. Students competed in Life Science, Physical Science, and Engineering categories.
CCISD Superintendent Karen Engle told students the district’s strong ties to Johnson Space Center continue to inspire scientific exploration and innovation among students, referencing NASA’s Artemis missions as an example of where early academic interests can lead.
Over time, the district fair has grown into a community-wide event, supported by volunteer judges, sponsors of special category awards, and the Clear Creek Education Foundation. SAIC served as the presenting sponsor. Additional sponsors included Coastal Waves Vacations, Exploration Green, Galveston Bay Foundation, iYar Fine Arts, Texas A&M Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and Topsoe.
CCISD also honored students who have participated in the fair throughout their academic careers. Eight students were recognized for 12 years of participation, and six students received the “Lucky 13” award for competing for 13 consecutive years.
Top district honors included the Jesse A. Dorrington Grand Awards. Kendrick Toennies of Clear Brook High School won the Life Science Grand Award, and Raeef Dean of Clear Springs High School earned the Physical Science Grand Award. Additional Grand Awards and runner-up recognitions were presented in Life Science, Physical Science, and Engineering divisions to students from Clear Brook High School, Clear Lake High School, and Brookside Intermediate.
The 126 qualifying CCISD secondary projects will compete at the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston on February 14 at the Fort Bend Epicenter.
