LA MARQUE — A 33-year-old La Marque man has been sentenced to 99 years in prison after a Galveston County jury found him guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.
The conviction stems from an investigation launched in May 2024 by La Marque Police Department Detective E. Kelemen, according to information released by the department.
Court records show Raymundo San Juan Perez was found guilty last week in the 122nd District Court, presided over by Judge Jeth Jones. Following the guilty verdict, the jury assessed punishment at 99 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
La Marque police officials credited the victim for their courage throughout the investigation and court process.
The department also acknowledged the work of prosecutors C. Whitacker and A. Poole with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, along with Child Protective Services and other agencies involved in the case.
Law enforcement officials said crimes against children remain a top priority and pledged continued efforts to hold offenders accountable.
