LA MARQUE — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in La Marque on January 31.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. that day, La Marque Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of Oak following reports of a shooting. Officers discovered 24-year-old Marques Rosendahl with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Following an extensive investigation and multiple interviews, detectives identified 28-year-old Taryke Jacobs as the suspect. Probable cause was established to charge Jacobs with first-degree murder.

In addition to the murder charge, Jacobs was involved in a separate incident earlier that night at the Fish Place, located at 925 FM 1765. He was subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (second degree) and unlawful carrying of a weapon (Class A misdemeanor). Jacobs is being held without bond on the murder and aggravated assault charges; a $7,500 bond was set for the weapons charge.

On February 9, 2026, Jacobs was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Louisiana. He was transported to a local parish jail before being transferred to the Galveston County Jail. Law enforcement officials thanked the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force and the Western District of Louisiana – Lake Charles for their assistance in the arrest.

La Marque Police expressed gratitude for the “tireless and around-the-clock efforts” of their detectives and extended condolences to the family and loved ones of Rosendahl.

U.S. Marshal T. Michael O’Connor emphasized the ongoing mission to pursue fugitives, stating, “Those who evade law enforcement should know that justice is coming.”
