Houston Man Arrested Following Child Sex Crime Investigation

GALVESTON COUNTY – The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Shane Cleveland, 55, of Houston, following a months-long child sex crime investigation conducted by Sgt. M. Stephenson of the Major Crimes Unit.

The investigation began on December 2, 2025, after authorities received allegations of continuous sexual abuse of a child. The victim reported being sexually assaulted multiple times during 2021.

Working with the Galveston County Child Advocacy Center and the Galveston County Multi-Disciplinary Team, detectives conducted interviews and gathered evidence throughout the investigation. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Stephenson obtained a full confession from Cleveland regarding the sexual abuse.

The case was presented to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, which approved a charge of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 14. Bond was set at $250,000.

Cleveland was arrested February 12, 2025, by the Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit and is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail.
