HITCHCOCK — The Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force executed 21 search warrants across Hitchcock on Wednesday, as part of an investigation into illegal gambling operations.

The warrants targeted 20 separate locations suspected of operating unlawful gambling establishments. Authorities also included the City of Hitchcock in the investigation due to its regulatory responsibilities concerning permitting, employee records, and inspections related to these businesses.

Residents in the area may notice an increased law enforcement presence, including personnel from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and other assisting agencies.

Officials have issued a public safety notice advising residents to avoid areas where active operations are underway, not to cross crime scene tape, and not to interfere with law enforcement activities.
