GALVESTON — A court hearing scheduled Friday for 27-year-old Graham Michael Dunn, who faces charges related to the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 12-year-old Galveston girl, has been postponed.
The status conference in the 10th District Court was reset for April 2. Dunn did not enter the courtroom and remained in a secured holding area during the proceeding.
Friday’s setting marked the first court appearance for his newly retained attorney, Ross B. Reifel of the Houston-based firm Dunham and Jones. Dunn had previously been appointed counsel but earlier this week filed notice that he had hired private representation. Reifel declined to comment following the reset.
Dunn is charged with aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child in connection with allegations stemming from Jan. 30. According to investigators, he is accused of using a false identity on social media to communicate with the girl and allegedly luring her from her home before taking her to a nearby hotel.
He remains in custody at the Galveston County Jail and has been denied bond. Galveston County Interim District Attorney Kenneth Cusick has stated he intends to pursue a motion seeking to deny bond.
Authorities have also said Dunn was previously out on bond in North Carolina in connection with a separate sexual battery case. Law enforcement officials have indicated he is charged or under investigation in other states, including Louisiana, Kentucky and Massachusetts, in cases involving alleged sexual offenses. Police have also confirmed he is under investigation for alleged online solicitation.
The case remains pending as prosecutors and defense counsel prepare for the next court setting.
