Texas City Man Charged in State Highway 146 Shooting

TEXAS CITY — A 22-year-old man has been charged following a shooting Saturday evening along State Highway 146, according to the Texas City Police Department. The incident was first reported by Grizzy’s Hood News.

Police said officers responded around 5:20 p.m. on February 28 to the 1100 block of State Highway 146 after receiving reports of multiple gunshots in the area. Several bystanders recorded video as the situation unfolded.

Following an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit, authorities determined that John Pierce, 22, of Texas City, allegedly shot Jeremiah Olmstead, 37.

Olmstead was transported to a local hospital and remains in stable condition, police said.

Pierce has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and deadly conduct for discharging a firearm, a third-degree felony. His total bond has been set at $200,000.
