BACLIFF — A 40-year-old Bacliff man was arrested on March 3 after deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person with a weapon at a residence in the 4800 block of Scott Reef.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit determined that James Whitaker pointed a firearm at a victim before fleeing into the home.

Deputies later executed a search warrant at the residence, where they found roughly one pound of marijuana, 46.3 grams of alprazolam, and a handgun.

Whitaker was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with bond set at $150,000, and delivery of a controlled substance (28–200 grams, Penalty Group 3/4) with a $100,000 bond.
