LEAGUE CITY – A Texas coffee brand known for its wood-fired roasting process is opening a new location in League City.

Summer Moon Coffee is preparing to open at 1340 E. League City Parkway, bringing its signature drinks and Texas-style roasting method to the area.

The company was originally founded in the Austin area and has expanded to several states, but franchise owner Andrea Trabanino says its roots remain firmly in Texas.

“It is family founded just down the road in Austin, Texas,” Trabanino said. “And the family that started it was looking for something that was different.”

One of the biggest differences is how the coffee beans are roasted.

“So something that they knew being Texans was that Texas oak was special so all of our beans, no matter where they come from in the world are roasted in Driftwood Texas not not so far from here and they’re all roasted over that Texas oak,” she said.

According to Trabanino, that wood-fired roasting process helps create a smoother flavor compared to traditional roasting methods.

Summer Moon is also known for its signature “moon milk,” a sweet cream blend used in many of its drinks.

“And they did that with the moon milk,” Trabanino said. “And even I do not know what’s in it. It is a secret recipe of seven ingredients. And that moon milk is to die for.”

Beyond the drinks, the shop is designed to be a comfortable space for the community to gather, whether for work, studying, or meeting friends.

“Well, experience wise, we really have created Summer Moons to be a place where you can come and work, you can come hang out with friends,” Trabanino said.

Trabanino says bringing the brand to the area is personal. She previously worked as a teacher and has deep ties to the Clear Creek community.

“I live here I sang the national anthem at Clear Creek High School and I went to Clearbrook and I taught at Clearbrook and I went to church right around our Nassau Bay location so for me this is very much a local,” she said.

The League City location will hold its grand opening on Saturday, March 14, starting at 7 a.m.

“The grand opening is next Saturday March 14th,” Trabanino said. “We will open at 7 a.m. and from 7 to 12 there are raffles and we’ll be sampling all of our pastries. We’ll be sampling our moon milk that everyone falls in love with.”

A soft opening is also planned the day before, giving customers an early opportunity to try the new shop.
