LEAGUE CITY – A crash involving an 18-wheeler and a Ford F-150 shut down several northbound lanes of Interstate 45 in League City on Tuesday morning.

The collision was reported around 9:27 a.m. in the 1200 block of the northbound lanes of I-45. According to League City Police Officer Jose Ortega, authorities believe the F-150 suffered a blown front right tire, causing the driver to lose control and enter the path of the 18-wheeler.

Emergency crews checked all drivers and passengers involved in the crash. No major injuries were reported.

The crash caused the 18-wheeler to leak diesel fuel from its tank, with some of the fuel entering a nearby storm drain. The League City Fire Department responded to address the fuel leak.

Three right lanes of northbound I-45 were shut down while crews worked the scene. The Texas Department of Transportation also responded to assist with cleanup efforts.

The crash scene was cleared and the roadway reopened by approximately 2:40 p.m.
