LA MARQUE — A Facebook post from an anonymous Walmart customer last week raised concerns about a security camera located near the store’s fitting rooms.

Colleen Chilcoat, Communications Coordinator for the City of La Marque, said she was aware of the concern.

One Facebook user stated her daughters had just left the Walmart, after trying on new swimming suits in the fitting rooms.

Walmart addressed the issue through Kelly Hellbusch of the company’s Global Press Office.

Hellbusch said she understood the concern and explained that the camera had been unwired before renovations began, which prompted the fitting room’s relocation.

Following the concerns, the camera has now been physically moved away from the fitting room area.

While Walmart acknowledged that customers may not know whether a camera is operational, the company did not provide a reason for why it remained in place during renovations.
