GALVESTON — A man was pronounced dead Friday after being found unresponsive in the water near the 24th Street jetty, according to the Galveston Island Beach Patrol.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 12:52 p.m. on April 25 after Galveston 911 received reports of a person seen floating face down in the water on the east side of the jetty near 24th Street and Seawall Boulevard.
Responding agencies included the Galveston Island Beach Patrol, Galveston Police Department, Galveston Fire Department, and Galveston EMS.
Officials said the victim was brought to shore, where CPR was initiated shortly afterward. The patient was then transported by EMS to University of Texas Medical Branch Emergency Room, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:28 p.m.
No additional information, including the identity of the victim, has been released at this time.
